Bill and I did end up revisiting the horns I'd made years ago at this point. BOM was brand new and we wanted to implement that into a mesh object.

I did the same basic twist shape, though had thinned them out considerably, and added a ring at the base. The ring would have a BOM option, matching the skin in a specific spot on the forehead. This proved a challenge, but we thought it was worth it in the end.

Goal:

  • Re-make horns

  • Implement BOM capabilities

What I Learned:

  • Curve manipulation

  • UV creation

  • Multiple materials (faces) per mesh

Notes:

  • I'm happy I got to remake the original horns I made, and glad I was able to make a decent UV to make them usable

  • I feel this product was a success, in I achieved the goals I'd made

  • At this point, Bill was the one doing the texture work itself, I just made the mesh and UV
