Sweet Curl (& Ponytail) Mane:: July 2021

I finally got Avastar and wanted to practice making some long manes. Sweet Curl started out as my personal mane. I wanted something with soft curls, that I could wear up in a ponytail, or down to the side. So may people loved it that I ended up putting it on the market. I've remade it from the ground up a couple of times, including a tail, but I'll talk about that later.

I made my own hair shape, though I can't clearly see which version of the shape this is. It is rounded for sure, I can't see if there are any sharp points or layers to the shape at this stage.

I made the long version first, and did my best to make the ponytail look like it was the same hair just pulled up. That was fun to experiment with!

Goals:

• Make my own hair shape

• Make a rigged mane

• Make a couple different versions of the same mane - an up-do and down-do

What I Learned:

• How to customize the hair shape (curve)

• How to be mindful of a 3-dimentional curl when it curves around itself

• How to rig to multiple bones

Notes:

• At this point, I remember being aware that the hair wasn't as smooth as I'd like it to look - the hair looks clearly chunky and low-poly. I was too nervous at this point to play with the curves' resolutions. I didn't know the max amount you could upload at a time, and didn't know enough about LODs.
